Drs. Tannen, Despotidis, and Lee are private eye doctors you can trust for state-of-the-art vision and eye health care in a friendly, modern office. So often we find that patients are "turned off" by the impersonal nature of health care today. In our office, we still believe that each individual patient counts. That's why the doctors and staff will take the time to listen, and provide the best solutions to your individual vision and eyecare needs.
Dr. Barry Tannen is in private practice at EyeCare Professionals, in Hamilton Square, New Jersey, where he is the co-founder. He is an Associate Clinical Professor, Emeritus at SUNY/State College of Optometry, as well as maintaining a staff appointment at the St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center. He is also the program supervisor for a residency program in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation based in EyeCare Professionals.
In 2016 Dr. Tannen received the "A.M. Skeffington Award" for excellence in Optometric writing from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and in 2014 he received the "Ludlam Education Award" for being an outstanding educator in the field of acquired brain injury by the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. In 2002, he was the recipient of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians Scientific Achievement Award. Dr. Tannen lectures nationally and internationally about the effects of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) on vision, He has written over 40 scientific papers, and has coauthored a textbook on the clinical aspects of eye movements. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and is Board Certified in vision therapy as a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
Dr. Nicholas Despotidis graduated with honors from The State College of Optometry in New York. He later completed a residency in vision therapy and pediatric vision. Among his many honors was the distinguished Barnes-Hind Award for excellence in contact lens fitting. He has published many papers in optometric journals, as well as being a frequent lecturer. He is the co-founder of EyeCare Professionals, P.C. and is he is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and is Board Certified in vision therapy as a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Despotidis is also very active in the field of orthokeratology, the non-surgical improvement of vision using vision retainers (gentle vision shaping system).
Dr. Ivan Lee did his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University and obtained his Doctor of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, (where he was on the Dean's list) in 1997. He completed an internship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida and did a residency in ocular disease at the Wilkes-Barre Veteran's Administration Medical Center in 1998. He has special interests in geriatric eye care ocular disease.
Along with examining general eyecare patients, Dr. Lee is the director of our glaucoma, macular degeneration, and advanced care clinic where he utilizes many of the latest ocular imaging procedures to offer the highest level care to our patients.
Dr. Noah Tannen “Dr. Noah” completed his residency in pediatric vision at Salus College of Optometry, and has joined Eyecare Professionals to work alongside Dr. D, Dr. Lee, and his father, Dr. Barry Tannen. Dr. Noah received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Lafayette College, and then went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree from State University of New York College of Optometry at Salus University.
Dr. Noah received the Optelec Low Vision Award for Excellence in Low Vision while at SUNY Optometry. He has already hosted Continuing Education lectures and has accomplished several publications on the following topics: myopia control, vision development and rehabilitation, convergence-evoked nystagmus, and patient care after traumatic brain injury.
