About Our Doctors

Dr. Barry Tannen graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he won the COVD/Brock Award for clinical excellence in vision therapy. He served as an officer in the United States Public Health Service for three years before founding EyeCare Professionals, P.C. with Dr. Despotidis. Dr. Tannen is an Associate Clinical Professor of Optometry at the SUNY/State College of Optometry in New York, where he is the Director of the Eye Movement and Biofeedback Clinic. He has co-authored a clinical textbook used by other eye doctors as well as having published numerous papers in professional journals. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and is Board Certified in vision therapy as a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
Dr. Nicholas Despotidis graduated with honors from The State College of Optometry in New York. He later completed a residency in vision therapy and pediatric vision. Among his many honors was the distinguished Barnes-Hind Award for excellence in contact lens fitting. He has published many papers in optometric journals, as well as being a frequent lecturer. He is the co-founder of EyeCare Professionals, P.C. and is he is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and is Board Certified in vision therapy as a Fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. Dr. Despotidis is also very active in the field of orthokeratology, the non-surgical improvement of vision using vision retainers (gentle vision shaping system).
Dr. Ivan Lee did his undergraduate studies at Rutgers University and obtained his Doctor of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, (where he was on the Dean's list) in 1997. He completed an internship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida and did a residency in ocular disease at the Wilkes-Barre Veteran's Administration Medical Center in 1998. He has special interests in geriatric eye care and low vision.
Along with examining general eyecare patients, Dr. Lee has started a low vision service within our office. He uses the newest optical and non-optical devices to treat patients with macular degeneration, advanced glaucoma, strokes and other conditions that can severely affect the vision. This requires the use of special telescopes, magnifiers, closed circuit televisions, and even digital imaging devices to help people achieve the optimal use of their vision.
Drs. Tannen, Despotidis, and Lee are private eye doctors you can trust for state-of-the-art vision and eye health care in a friendly, modern office. So often we find that patients are "turned off" by the impersonal nature of health care today. In our office, we still believe that each individual patient counts. That's why the doctors and staff will take the time to listen, and provide the best solutions to your individual vision and eyecare needs.
